On November 20, 2011 Oaks Corners Firefighter Christopher Stobie was riding along with Finger Lakes
Ambulance as a requirement for his EMT class. At 10:45am, the Finger Lakes Ambulance he was
assigned to was dispatched along with the Clifton Springs Fire Dept. to an address on Hibbard Ave. in
the Village of Clifton Springs for a report of a male in cardiac arrest. When Firefighter Stobie arrived on
scene another ambulance crew had already entered the residence and confirmed that there was no
pulse and no respirations. Firefighter Stobie was instructed to begin giving compressions. He performed
two rounds of compressions, was relieved for two rounds of compressions, and then performed another
two rounds of compressions. At the end of six rounds of CPR, both Firefighter Stobie and the paramedic
on scene confirmed that the patient had a pulse. The patient was ventilated, backboarded, and then
transported to Clifton Springs hospital. The medical staff at Clifton Springs Hospital confirmed later that
the patient was in stable condition.
On April 8, 2011 at 6:05 pm, the Ontario County 911 Center received a call from the clerk at the Wilson
Farms Store at 1731 Route 14 in the town of Phelps reporting a 25 year old male in a vehicle who was
not breathing. The 911 Center dispatched the Oaks Corners Fire Department & Phelps Ambulance. The
Communications Officer instructed the clerk to go out to the parking lot and verify that the patient was
not breathing. The patient was removed from the vehicle and the clerk confirmed that the patient was
having agonal respirations. The Communications Officer began giving the clerk instructions on how to
perform CPR. Within minutes, Oaks Corners Fire Department Captain Jeremy Lane arrived on scene
and confirmed agonal respirations and a weak pulse. He then took over CPR from the clerk. Captain
Lane continued CPR until Phelps Ambulance personnel arrived on scene. The patient was then
transported to Geneva General Hospital where later in the day, he was reported to be in stable condition.
