OAKS CORNERS FIREFIGHTER USES "PET-O2"
OXYGEN SYSTEM ON FELINE AT JUNIUS HOUSE FIRE
On January 10, 2018 at 2:49 PM, OCFD was requested to the scene of a house
fire at 1229 Birdsey Road in the Town of Junius with a tanker and a
firefighter rehab crew. An OCFD engine company also responded to stand by
at the Junius fire station. During the incident, a pet cat that resided in the
home was located and brought to the rehab sector. The cat was not alert and
needed oxygen. OCFD EMS Lieutenant Jacob DeChick (right) used the Pet O2
oxygen delivery system to administer oxygen to the animal. In the process,
the animal was doing much better and was reunited with her family. We carry
Pet O2 kits on all three trucks that carry oxygen for EMS calls, and all three
were graciously donated by local animal lovers.
