| Combine Brings Down Pole and Wires on Leach Rd. |
On Thursday 11/19/09 at 0732 hours, the Oaks Corners Fire Department was dispatched to Maryland Road
near the Wayne County line for a report of a utility pole and wires down on a combine. The 911 caller reported
a person was still in the combine. Asst. Chief Maney responded and was advised by the 911 Center that the
incident was possibly in Leach Road in the Town of Lyons, and that the Lyons Fire Department was also being
dispatched. Lyons Chief Witt, Lyons Engine 6, and Asst. Chief Maney arrived at the same time on opposite
ends of the incident and reported that there were high tension power lines down on an occupied combine, and
that the pole and transformer were also down. The operator remained in the vehicle until NYSEG arrived and
cut the power to the wires. The combine operator was uninjured. Oaks Corners FD Fire Police assisted on
scene with shutting down Leach. Rd. Rescue 3271 responded with a crew of 6.
