Warehouse Damaged in Border City Fire
On August 1, 2010 at around 5pm, the Border City Fire Department was dispatched to a building across from
94 Border City Road for a reported structure fire. Chief John Morabito arrived on scene in less than a minute,
reported a working fire, and requested an engine from the Geneva FD to the scene. Additional mutual aid
requests were made for an engine & rescue from Waterloo, a Quint from Seneca Falls, and a FAST team from
Fayette.

Due to the size of the fire and limited water available from hydrants, engines from Waterloo, Varick, & Oaks
Corners were used to supply water via a tanker operation. Tankers from Border City, Waterloo, North Side,
Oaks Corners, Seneca Castle, Junius, & Varick were used to shuttle water to the scene. Multiple departments
were called to stand by for departments who were tied up at the fire.

The Oaks Corners Fire Department originally responded with Engine 3211 which set up a drafting operation to
supply Geneva Engine 1111. Pumper/Tanker 3231 was requested to respond as a tanker. At the request of
North Seneca Ambulance, Rescue 3271 & Rescue 3272 responded to the scene with EMS personnel and
Rehab equipment. The OCFD responded with a crew of 22 fire & EMS responders under the direction of Chief
Maney.
