On February 21, 2011 at 2:45pm, the Oaks Corners Fire Dept. & Phelps Ambulance were dispatched to
Hansen Aggregates at 2026 County Road 6 for a reported crash involving a dump truck that had struck a
building. The 911 Center reported that the driver was injured. Oaks Corners Chief Maney responded along with
Heavy Rescue 3272, Engine 3211, and a crew of 8. An additional crew of 6 responded to the station and
remained on stand-by there.
First arriving units found a dump truck loaded with stone which had struck an electrical pole and then had
proceeded into a building containing the offices and scale house. The electrical pole had been sheared off and
pushed into the building. The driver had self-extricated and was treated by Phelps Ambulance personnel.
Firefighters established a collapse zone around the unsecured utility pole and disconnected the power to the
building. NYSEG and the town of Phelps Code Enforcement Office assisted on scene.
